Pumpkin Walk
Pumpkins Lighting Up Philmont -- Sunday, October 26th, 2008!

PHILMONT, NY -- On Sunday, October 26th from 4-8PM, Philmont holds its annual Pumpkin Walk. Based on the idea from the community in Keene, NH, a pumpkin walk invites anyone and everyone to bring their jack-o-lantern carved pumpkin to share and to light up the night. The fun of seeing all the different pumpkin designs (and getting to vote on your favorite) is only part of the activities of the evening.

From 4:00-5:00 PM will be hayrides provided by the Farm at Miller's Crossing. Bring a dessert before 6:30 PM to try for the "best dessert" prizes (all the desserts will be shared after the judging). Wear your costume for the parade and costume judging at 6:30 PM. Join the StoryCrafters for story telling at 7:00PM, and make sure to get in your vote for best pumpkin by 7:30 PM. Music, games and campfire will be available the entire evening. All events are free, and take place along Lake Shore drive, around the Philmont Community Center, giving a lovely backdrop to the event of Summit Lake and the changing foliage.

For the community wide event, the local restaurants, Lagonias, Local 111, Main Street Public House and The Vanderbilt will all be offering pumpkin specials on their menus during the evening. Rain date for the event is Sunday, Oct 26th from 4-8PM.

As if that wasn't enough, the Philmont Volunteer Fire Department is hosting Haunted Hayrides on Friday and Saturday. The $2.50 fee gives you a frightful ride, hot chocolate, cookies AND benefits the Fire Department. The Haunted Hayrides will be available Friday as well as Saturday night, the 24th and 25th from 7:00-10:30PM.

To continue the fall festivities, the annual Halloween Costume Parade and contest, sponsored by the Philmont Fire Department, will be on Friday, October 31st, at 6:00PM on Main Street in Philmont.

COME CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN IN OUR HISTORIC VILLAGE!

Full schedules will be available throughout the day.

All events are free of charge, unless otherwise noted.
