Philmont, NY - The Philmont Public Library will celebrate the arrival of the New Farmer Narrative Project exhibit Journeys into Farming with a public reception featuring light local refreshments followed by a Q&A and community discussion with area new farmers on Wednesday, August 1st. The reception will start at 6pm, while the Q&A will start at 7pm.

Jon Ronsani recently started Lineage Farm in Philmont, NY.
The New Farmer Q&A and community discussion will provide an opportunity for the community to ask questions of people who have started farms in the Claverack area over the last 10 years and discuss topics of interest around food and new farms in the community. It will also include a short introduction to the findings of the Project and the situation of new farmers. Some of the new farms that will be present include Common Hands Farm, Lineage Farm, New Leaf Farm, and Cowberry Crossing Farm.

The traveling New Farmer Narrative Project exhibit is a photo- and story-based display based on interviews and farm tours conducted with new farmers by the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program, and will be at the Philmont Public Library from July 30th to August 13th.

The Philmont Public Library is located at 101 Main Street, Philmont, NY. For more information on hours and events, call 518-672-5010.
