![]() Teens, ages 12 to 16, will also have a summer reading program this summer entitled Making Waves. Jackie Tice and Renee Maxwell are organizing activities for local teens, including Wii games, movies, and hikes, all having the water theme. The Director Karen Garafalo has issued her summer challenge to all members of the library community: Read 10 million pages between June 14 and the end of the summer. Following the water theme, there will be a map of the Philmont Reservoir a/k/a Summit Lake on the front lawn. The reservoir depicted holds 108,304,920 gallons of water. Each page read from a library book will be awarded 10 gallons of water to help fill the map on the front lawn. If the patrons of the library (young and old) read 10 million pages, the map of the reservoir will show the lake full of water. To help with this challenge, report all pages read from library books to the clerk at the circulation desk and check the map on the front lawn to see the progress of Philmont readers. |
