Matthew Perry, a Trustee of the Philmont Public Library was honored as the recipient for Columbia County's Trustee Success Story of 2007 at the Mid-Hudson Library System Annual Meeting at the Culinary Institute of America.

Matthew, the youngest trustee to receive this honor, was nominated by Interim Director Karen Garafalo. Matthew has been instrumental in “getting the word out” about the library. He maintains and updates the Philmont.org website, keeps the community informed as the moderator of a message board InPhilmont, and assists with press releases regarding the library.

His communication skills are not the sole reason for this award; however, he is active in most library programs and activities, even covering the circulation desk on occasion and running the projector for movie night.

Matthew also serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Comprehensive Plan Committee.
