With the holidays fast approaching, the library will be serving as a drop-off point for donations to the pantry. We are specifically looking for holiday items; canned yams, stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, cans of pumpkin pie, vegetables. Also needed are non food items (napkins, toilet paper, Kleenex, toothpaste, toothbrushes) and the usual soup, spaghetti sauce, cereal, mayo, peanut butter and jelly.
Please check expiration dates before bringing the donations. Cash donations are always helpful. Help to make everyone’s holiday happy. The pantry is located in the Town Office Building on Church Street. It is open from 10 to 12 on Tuesdays. Applications for food assistance are available at the pantry and can be filled out during open hours. Questions can be address to the Co-Chairs, Mary Jean Hoose and Janice Anderson. Another way of giving to the local food pantry is to send a check to the Regional Food Bank, with Mellenville-Philmont in the "memo" space. Or you can drop a check off at the library made out to the Regional Food Bank. The amount of your contribution will be credited to the Mellenville-Philmont Food Pantry account and can be used only by that pantry to purchase food at a reduced rate from the Regional Food Bank. The address is: Regional Food Bank of NENY 965 Albany-Shaker Road Latham, NY 12110 |
